Eww, what is this!?! I've started spamming my account with photography? Do not fear! There will be drawing on the way!

We're most of the way through a photography 'taster' in college. Though it appears they do not wish to teach us anything to do with photography in that time period. More like a 2 week course of doing photographer artist studies rather than fine artists.

Thus I'm sorry for the amaturist images. I bought myself my camera recently and feel that its something that needs to be in harmony with my fine art work if I'm to progress. My own images, when I learn to construct them as I wish, would be worth tenfold of the reproduced copyrighted-mass media images that flood this place.

Technical skill is one thing. Creation is another.

Oh and I'd love to hear any photography tips :D *blunders his way through this so called 'art' course* (I typed curse, not course, perhaps it would have been more fitting.)

Yus! It is I!

Last time anyone possibly heard from me I was headed off to college with my half finished portrait. Well, just to let you know: its still unfinished.

I came down with a horrid gastric virus, putting me off my food for weeks and a fairly consistant feeling of nausea. Funtimes.

But I have actually managed to do a couple weeks of college as (touch wood) I'm better. And to let you know, it's Slooooooow. 2 weeks of drawing a log in about 20 different ways. Thus I have about 30 images of the same log, which I'm really not going to spam on here. Also 7 hours a day of looking at a log has completely put me off my own works. Hopefully when the course settles, and we're in our chosen sections I'll be back on track for drawing what I like.

Anyway, gotta stick all my A4 stuff in an A3 sketchbook as for some reason A4 isnt an acceptable size. Even when I got 100% marks for a half filled A4 sketchbook. It's just my style you know? :(

PS. Cutting + sticking with no prit-stick can be troublesome.

Reflective Ramblings

Recently came across this video: [link]

If like me your awaiting exam results, its a rather refreshing, and more importantly, truthful description of the system. We live a life of goals. Its how our modern society works. We either believe (or like to believe) that we have freedom to make choices, but inevitably these decisions and hard work lead towards an end that perhaps isnt all it was made up to be.

I think what I've learnt over the year of focusing on art is the importance of doing what you want. You only have one life, and even that isnt predictable. Not to work towards an end that you may or may not reach, but to do things spontaniously.
Life is a song, coupled with a dance, and perhaps a drawing (if your more like me)...

[link] is another fantastic, and inspiring video that I've always adored. I think perhaps it displays what I mean in a metaphorical sense.

I will draw and draw. Results are one thing, a piece of paper with symbols on, but a life cannot be limited to such drivel.

Question of brightness

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 15, 2009, 7:14 AM

Just bought myself a new PC monitor an acer 22" widescreen and an Intuos4 M drawing tablet :D Decided to treat myself.

But now having returned to my images everything appears glared and ugly compared to how images were viwed on my old monitor. So I'm asking this: Are my pieces that I've posted in the past too bright/dark to your monitor. I'm just not sure if the new one I have is overly bright, or rather that I've been viewing things in the dark for years.
